Publicizing the Upcoming Day of Learning at YU for Rav Soloveitchik
Dear Colleagues, I hope this email finds you well. I would like to inform you of a major event that we will be hosting in honor of Rav Yosef B. Soloveitchik's 20th Yahrtzeit. On Sunday April 14th, we will be hosting a day of conversation and shiurim focused on the life and legacy of the Rav. We have invited members of the family, some of the most sought after scholars and Talmidim of the Rav for what we anticipate will be a most memorable day of learning and reflection. We kindly ask that you help publicize this event by emailing your congregation the flyer you can find here and posting the text below in your Shul announcements. For those who will be unable to join us in person, we are pleased to announce that we will be broadcasting the morning program and keynote presentation live on the YUTorah website. For those Shuls in driving distance to NY, please consider chartering busses to bring your congregants to this event. If you email Nehama Cohen at nscohen@yu.edu we will do our best to reserve seats so that your community can sit together. For those Shuls that are too far away to join us in person you may want to consider holding an event in your own Shul and logging in together to join us virtually, at this event. If you wish, we can design a special flier and co-brand the event with you. You may email Rabbi Rob Shur at shur@yu.edu who will design the material for you. Pre-registration for the event is required. For more information about the event, visit www.yu.edu/the-rav. We encourage you to join us for this momentous occasion, whether in person or online. All the Books of the Prophets and those of Ketuvim (Books and the Sacred Writings) will cease [to be part of the canonized text] during the messianic era except the Book of Esther. It will continue to exist just as the Five Books of the Torah and the laws of the Oral Torah that will never cease. Although ancient troubles will be remembered no longer, as it is written "The 'troubles of the past are forgotten and hidden from my eyes• (Isaiah 65:16), the days of Purim will not be abolished, as it is written: "These days of Purim shall never be repealed among the Jews, and the memory of them shall never cease from their descendants" (Esther 9:28). - Maimonides (Laws of Megillah and Chanukah chap. 2: 18).
