Celebrate Unity Day with the entire Jewish people in memory of Naftali, Gil-ad & Eyal

Dear Friends,

It is hard to believe that a full year has elapsed since last  summer when three Israeli teens, Naftali, Gil-ad, and Eyal, were kidnapped by terrorists on their way home from school. Jews from around the world came together to search, pray, and offer support. The sense of unity that we all experienced reached its peak with the grief we felt  when the three boys were found buried together.

Now, on their first yahrtzeit, the families of these boys are asking the Jewish world to participate in a call for action. Joined by the Israeli Ministry of Education and Jewish institutions around the world, this call invites us to honor the teens' memory by committing one day,  a “Unity Day,”  to bringing back that sense of togetherness and hope. This Unity Day will be held in every country on the 16 Sivan/ June 3..

“Unity Day” will provide the entire Jewish people, regardless of denomination, ideology  or politics, an opportunity to pause for a moment and remember that there is a lot more that unites us than  separates us.

On this day of Jewish Unity and in the memory of Eyal, Gil-Ad, and Naftali, we have dedicated the front page of YU Torah to shiurim  on Jewish unity. Please take some time in learning and reflection. Listen to one of these YUTorah presentations as we all work to create light from this darkest of moments and strive for unity in our precious community.
