Dear Friends,CPI Report Cover

On July 25th, at ChampionsGate – Yeshiva University’s annual leadership conference, we proudly released the Counterpoint Israel Study.

The study evaluates seven years of impact that YU has had on thousands of youth at risk from Israeli development towns, and on hundreds of YU students that have participated in the program since the summer of 2006.

We acknowledge Dr. Ezra Kopelowitz and his team at Research Success Technologies, who conducted this study between June 2012 and January 2013.  Please click here to view the study.

The study demonstrates how partnerships between Israeli and American Jews – between Yeshiva University and Israeli municipalities – enable mutual benefit.

According to Dr. Kopelowitz, the Counterpoint camps provide a transformative experience for both the Israeli teens and YU students and enrich the broader educational system in the Israeli municipalities.

The educational methods utilized at the camps provide a learning environment radically different to the one that the Israeli teens experience at school, encouraging them to speak in English, thus expanding their knowledge and skills.

At the heart of the experience are the strong personal bonds that develop between the YU students and the Israeli teens, which lead them to want to speak English and at the same time explore their own personal and Jewish identity.

The study finds that the YU students who participate on the program are motivated to seek professions that will allow them to contribute to the Jewish and global community as well as strengthen the connection between Israeli and American Jews.

Finally, the study shows that the municipalities of cities where Counterpoint operates see Counterpoint as indispensable to their educational systems and are committed to contributing their own resources to ensure the program's success. Some municipalities have even been inspired to invest in enrichment programming beyond Counterpoint.

We are proud to share the Counterpoint Study with you and have tremendous gratitude to the partners and supporters – listed below – who have enabled us to make Counterpoint possible.
